My Thoughts

Though there is not much for me to go on as to what exactly is transpiring behind closed doors in the DPRK and i do not wish to speculate as I would just instill bias on whoever reads this. I feel obliged to say that the succession of power may not be a bad thing. A war to prove ones worth may happen, and that would be terrible. However, Kim Jong-Un may be more willing to listen to reason from Wester Powers. Not every situation is terrible, there is a possibility that good will come of almost any change (except wars of course).

  1. I think your attempt to be object and academic about this is noble, however, I wonder whether or not there is fear (perhaps this is why the bluster) that this may be a critical time for the regime - that in a time of critical transition and therefore instability - the regime could implode or collapse, releasing a flood of refugees south to Seoul and north across the Yalu River to China, something neither country wants. Your challenge now is to do some more in-depth research on the transition. You should look for material (check out the BBC, or the Economist, as well as anything else (academic) you can find, via advanced and focused Google searches. Then post on it.
